Original Katong Laksa (Janggut)

Janggut Laksa lays claim to being among the originals of Katong laksa, the style named after the east-coast neighbourhood where it was born. 'Janggut' (meaning 'bearded') was the nickname of the founder, and the recipe has been handed down with its signature thick, prawn-and-coconut gravy. As with all Katong laksa, the noodles are cut short and eaten with a spoon, piled with cockles and fishcake.
