Singapore's third national garden, and the first in the heartlands, Jurong Lake Gardens wraps the western shore of Jurong Lake in a free, beautifully landscaped park of boardwalks, swamp forest and grassy lawns. Families flock to the Forest Ramble, a sprawling nature playground themed on freshwater-wetland creatures, while joggers and birdwatchers circle the lake and its restored habitats. It's noticeably quieter and more local than the marquee city gardens, which is part of its charm. There's a science-themed Clusia garden and weekend food trucks too. Bring water and sun protection, and time a visit for the cooler morning or late afternoon.
