Xiu Ji Ikan Bilis Yong Tau Fu
One of the oldest yong tau foo stalls of its kind, Xiu Ji has served Chinatown Complex since the 1960s, famed for hand-made fish paste and a generous heap of crispy ikan bilis (fried anchovies) on top. You pick your pieces — tofu, fishballs, stuffed chillies and greens — dry with sweet sauce and chilli, or in a clean soup. The springy, sweet fish paste is the giveaway of quality. Expect a long queue and have it dry to taste the sauce.
