Gunkee Claypot

Gunkee (Guan Ji) is a claypot specialist from mainland China that landed on South Bridge Road in Chinatown, serving Hunan- and Hubei-leaning dishes simmered and brought to the table in clay pots. The signboard dish is its Honghu lotus-root and pork-rib soup — slow-cooked for hours and famously capped at around 100 bowls a day — alongside a black-tiger-prawn-and-vermicelli claypot and red-hawthorn pork ribs. Prices are mid-range (most dishes about S$15–28, plus service charge and GST), and the kitchen posts a cheeky promise at the door: if it's not good, the meal is on them. It's a sit-down restaurant rather than a hawker stall, so it suits a relaxed group dinner.
