Kampong Glam & Haji Lane

Centred on the golden-domed Sultan Mosque, Kampong Glam is Singapore's historic Malay-Arab quarter and one of its most photogenic. Bussorah Street frames a classic mosque view, Arab Street is lined with textile and carpet merchants, and the former Istana Kampong Glam now houses the Malay Heritage Centre. The real draw, though, is narrow Haji Lane — a single hip alley crammed with street murals, indie boutiques, record shops and tiny bars that buzz into the night. Wander by day for the colour and shopping, then return after dark for rooftop shisha and cocktails. It's compact enough to pair with neighbouring Bugis.
